Costa Blanca North · Alicante
The Jalón Valley stretches along the Gorgos river between the Sierra de Bernia and the mountains of the Marina Alta. Its whitewashed villages – Jalón (Xaló), Alcalalí, Llíber, Parcent and Murla – are surrounded by vineyards and almond groves, offering a relaxed rural lifestyle just 20 minutes from the coast.
General
Jalón has around 3,000 inhabitants and is the main village of the valley, with shops, banks, bars, restaurants, a health centre and a pharmacy. The neighbouring villages each have their own character, and together they form a welcoming community where Spanish and international residents live side by side.
The beaches of Calpe and Moraira are about 20 minutes away by car, Dénia and Jávea around 25 minutes, and Alicante airport roughly an hour. The valley is known for its sunny, mild climate and clear mountain air.

Areas
The valley offers a wide range of homes, many with large plots and stunning views:

Nature
The valley is framed by the Sierra de Bernia, the Sierra del Ferrer and the Coll de Rates. Walking routes lead to the ruins of the Castell d'Aixa, along the Gorgos riverbed and up to the Bernia ridge, with views over the whole Costa Blanca.
Every year, from late January to February, thousands of almond trees cover the valley in pink and white blossom – one of the most beautiful sights in Spain.

Gastronomy
The Jalón Valley is the wine region of the Marina Alta. Local wineries and the village cooperative bodega produce red, rosé, white and sweet muscatel wines, which you can taste and buy directly from the barrel.
Village restaurants serve hearty local dishes such as arròs al forn, olleta and paella cooked over a wood fire, and the valley's olive oil, honey and almonds are excellent souvenirs.

Schools
Jalón has its own public primary school, CEIP Serra de Bèrnia, and secondary education is available in nearby towns such as Benissa.
International families can reach British and international schools in Jávea, Benitachell and Alfaz del Pi in around 25–35 minutes.
Sports
The valley is famous among cyclists: the climb to the Coll de Rates is a classic for amateur and professional riders alike. Hikers can explore dozens of trails in the Bernia, Ferrer and Aixa mountains.
Golfers can play at Ifach Golf in Benissa or La Sella near Pedreguer, both about 20 minutes away, and the sea with all its water sports is never far.
Culture & festivals
Every Saturday, Jalón's popular rastro (flea market) brings together antiques, crafts and local produce, attracting visitors from across the coast. The village churches, small museums and old washhouses tell the story of the valley.
Each village celebrates its own summer fiestas with music, processions and traditional events, and wine and harvest festivals complete a lively calendar.
