Costa Blanca North · Marina Alta
Pedreguer is a genuine Valencian town in a fertile valley, surrounded by mountains and only ten minutes from the beaches of Dénia. Its famous Sunday market, the La Sella golf resort and attractive urbanisations with sea views make it one of the most popular places to live on the Costa Blanca North.
General
Pedreguer has around 8,800 inhabitants and lies at 83 metres above sea level, between the Muntanya Gran and the Montgó. Daily life revolves around the main street with its church, town hall, shops and bars, and the town keeps its traditions alive all year round.
Thanks to its central location just off the AP-7, Dénia, Jávea and the Jalón Valley are all within 10 to 20 minutes, and both Valencia and Alicante airports can be reached in about an hour.

Areas
Pedreguer combines a lively town centre with green residential areas:

Beaches
Pedreguer itself is inland, but the long sandy beaches of Dénia, El Verger, Els Poblets and Oliva are only a short drive away, as are the coves of Jávea. You enjoy the peace and lower prices of the interior with the Mediterranean on your doorstep.
Nature
The Muntanya Gran rises behind the town, crowned by the remains of the Moorish castle of l'Ocaive, and the Montgó Natural Park lies opposite. The area is full of caves, springs and underground rivers – the Cova del Comte even contains Upper Palaeolithic rock paintings – and offers excellent hiking trails with views over the whole Marina Alta.

Gastronomy
Local specialities include paella with aubergine and chickpeas, rice with broad beans and pork ribs, xones (snails in tomato sauce) and the traditional 'malcriat' breakfast of tomato toast with tuna and anchovy.
The Saturday farmers' market and the famous Sunday Rastro – one of the largest flea markets in the region – are the places to buy local produce, homemade preserves and much more.

Schools
Pedreguer has public nursery and primary schools and a secondary school, with lessons in Valencian and Spanish. Several international and British schools in Dénia, Jávea and Benitachell are within a 15 to 25-minute drive. The town also has a health centre, a sports centre with an outdoor pool and a cultural centre in the historic old school building.

Sports
La Sella Golf, with 27 holes designed by José María Olazábal, lies within the municipality. The quiet roads and mountain passes around Pedreguer are popular with cyclists, the Muntanya Gran and the Montgó offer hiking and trail running, and the municipal sports centre has football, padel and swimming.

Culture & festivals
Highlights of the year are Sant Antoni in January, the Porrat market and Sant Blai festivities on 3 February, and the patron saint festivities of Sant Bonaventura in mid-July, with bull runs, music and fireworks.
Pedreguer's 18th-century raisin boom left elegant buildings such as Els Pòrxens and the Repés building, and the Ermita de Sant Blai offers lovely views over the town.
