Costa Blanca North · Alicante
The Orba Valley is a green inland valley just behind Dénia, with the village of Orba at its heart. Surrounded by citrus groves, olive trees and mountains, it offers spacious villas with views, a friendly international community and a slower pace of life – while the beaches of Dénia are only a quarter of an hour away.
General
Orba has around 2,500 inhabitants and, together with the hamlet of Orbeta, lies in a wide valley between Dénia, Pedreguer and the Vall de Laguar. Neighbouring villages such as Benidoleig and Murla complete this quiet area of the Marina Alta.
The village has shops, bakeries, bars and restaurants, a pharmacy, a health centre and a weekly market. Dénia and the motorway are about 15–20 minutes away, and Alicante and Valencia airports can each be reached in roughly an hour and a quarter. Thanks to its inland setting, the valley enjoys a mild climate with fresh mountain air.

Areas
The valley offers a variety of homes, mostly with plenty of outdoor space:

Beaches
Although the Orba Valley lies inland, the long sandy beaches of Les Marines in Dénia are only about 15–20 minutes away by car. The rocky coves of Les Rotes and the beaches of Jávea are also within easy reach.
Many residents enjoy the best of both worlds: peace and space in the valley, and a day at the beach or a meal in the port of Dénia whenever they like.
Nature
The valley is surrounded by mountains criss-crossed with walking trails. Nearby, the Vall de Laguar is home to the Barranc de l'Infern, a spectacular gorge known for its thousands of old stone steps, and Benidoleig has the Cova de les Calaveres, a cave open to visitors.
In late January and February the almond trees blossom across the valley, and in spring the scent of orange blossom fills the air – two of the most beautiful moments of the year.

Gastronomy
The local cuisine is hearty and traditional: arròs al forn, olleta, coques and grilled meats, often prepared over a wood fire. Several restaurants in and around Orba are popular with locals and visitors alike for their good-value set menus.
Oranges, olive oil, honey and wine come from the valley itself, and the weekly market and small shops sell fresh local produce.
Schools
Orba has its own public primary school, and secondary schools are found in the nearby towns of Pedreguer and Dénia.
International families can choose from several British and international schools in Dénia and Jávea, about 20–25 minutes away.
Sports
The quiet country roads and mountain passes such as the Coll de Rates make the area a paradise for road cyclists, and hikers can choose from dozens of signposted routes.
Golfers can play at La Sella Golf near Pedreguer, about 15 minutes away, and padel, tennis, horse riding and water sports on the coast are all within easy reach.
Culture & festivals
Above the village stand the ruins of El Castellet, a Moorish-era castle with wonderful views over the valley. The parish church and the old washhouses and fountains reflect Orba's long agricultural history.
Throughout the year the village celebrates its fiestas with music, processions and traditional events, and the international residents organise markets, concerts and social clubs – making it easy to feel at home.
